There is still time to make your nominations for the Active Braintree District Sports Awards.

The deadline for the inaugural event, which celebrates the best of sport and physical activity in the district, has been extended until September 24.

The categories are Young Sports Personality of the Year, Disabled Sports Personality of the Year, Unsung Hero (Volunteer), Young Community Volunteer, School or College of the Year, Community Club of the Year and Coach of the Year.

Councillor Jo Beavis, cabinet member for people and participation, said: “This is an opportunity to reward those people and organisations within the community who are making a difference. Whether it’s an inspirational coach, or a passionate volunteer helping to keep the club running, this is a great opportunity to give them the recognition they deserve.

Nominations can be completed online at braintree.gov.uk/sportsawards or by emailing active@braintree.gov.uk.

The awards will be presented at Causeway House on October 13.
