Witham carnival has been saved thanks to new volunteers signing up.
Last week, the Times published how the carnival, which dates back to 1929, was in jeopardy following the stepping down of its chairman, Michael Watson.
At a meeting earlier in the month, the carnival was pleased to appoint its new chairman, Kenneth Davies.
Mr Watson said: “I am really pleased that we have been able to appoint a new chairman."
Mr Davies, who has lived in Witham for 42 years, added: “I saw the appeal from the chair and thought this was something I could get involved with."
The committee still needs marshalls and someone to tow the carnival float.
