RESIDENTS and staff at two care homes passed the baton during a charity relay across Essex.
The New Deanery and St Mary's Court residential care homes, both on Deanery Hill in Braintree, took part in the event which raised money for cancer charities including CLIC Sargent, Macmillan and King's College London.
The baton travelled across 35 cares homes throughout the county.
Resident Brenda Boley took the baton at The New Deanery before passing it over to Sarah Crow at nearby St Mary's Court.
The baton then travelled via the royal themed minibus to The Moat House in Great Dunmow.
The teams at both Braintree care homes have celebrated great success over the past few months and received two awards at the Skills for Care Accolade awards.
Jo Crosby, head of activities at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court, said: “It’s always a joy to see residents and staff participating in such events. I think it was a great idea and is really nice to see all the care homes come together to raise money for charity.”
