THE A131 has reopened after a crash near Church Street in Braintree.
The road was partially blocked from around 1.40pm.
One witness who drove past the scene said: "There is a fair amount of damage to both vehicles, a car and a van, but I don't know if they are injured or if bystanders are keeping them in the vehicles as a matter of caution."
A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic collision in Braintree today at 12.36pm.
