TWO fire crews were called to a large unattended bonfire late last night.
The fire was started in the open in Long Green, Cressing, with crews arriving at the scene after 10pm.
The incident caused severe damage to the surrounding area.
A spokesman for Braintree fire station said: “Firefighters from Braintree were called to a large unattended bonfire in Cressing on February 28 at 10.18pm.
“Because of the location we were assisted by Coggeshall firefighters and set up a water shuttle.
“Never leave a bonfire unattended as there is always a danger of fire spread.”
Crews fully extinguished the fire and made the area safe by 11.36pm.
