RESIDENTS enjoyed the "hottest" tunes as a popular music festival was held in a market town in Essex.

The Great Dunmow Summer Solstice Festival took place towards the end of last month, treating guests to live music throughout the afternoon and evening.

The event, which was hosted at the town’s Recreation Ground, brought a variety of communities together and delivered a joyous occasion.

The celebrations were soundtracked by music from ABBA Stars UK, Old Skool Band, Bob Collum and The Welfare Mothers, Swan Vesta Social Club, Xstatic, and Flash – a tribute to Queen.

The Mayor, Councillor Alex Armstrong, said: "The Great Dunmow Summer Solstice Music Festival was a huge success.

"Residents, young and old, and families enjoyed a jam-packed day and night of various musical entertainment, that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

"The dedication and hard work of the Solstice Committee members, who are all volunteers, to provide the town with an inclusive and fun event for all, is exemplary, as is their support for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.

"Everyone involved from volunteers, to festivalgoers, I thank you on behalf of Great Dunmow."

Leading housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes was among the sponsors of the event, as part of its support for the community close to its development in the town, Great Dunmow Grange.

Following its support of the Great Dunmow Soapbox Race, the housebuilder hopes to continue bringing communities together in the areas in which it builds.

Tom Wright, the managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties said: "Having launched our Great Dunmow Grange development last year, we’ve come to see how popular events such as the Great Dunmow Summer Solstice Festival are in the town.
