A WORLD-FAMOUS violinist is set to televise a performance in Essex cinemas for one weekend only.

The acclaimed Dutch violinist and conductor, André Rieu, 74, is bringing a festive concert to cinema screens in Colchester, Braintree, Chelmsford, and more on December 2 and 3.

Entitled 'White Christmas', the recording of the performance takes place in the picturesque location of Vrijthof Square, in Maastricht, in the Netherlands.

It will feature a mix of Waltz and orchestra-led classic music and also include a behind-the-scenes exclusive interview with André about creating the Christmas-themed event.

The musician is famous for popularising waltz music and founded the Johann Strauss Orchestra when he set up the ensemble in 1987.

The event will be streamed in more than 500 cinemas across the UK.

Live concert films are growing increasingly popular and most recently the global pop star Taylor Swift debuted the Eras Tour film across cinemas in Essex and the UK in October.

The two hour and 48 minute film allowed fans to watch the singer, who UK fans won't be able to see live until the summer of 2024, perform hit after hit.
