A TALENTED university choir led by an award-winning conductor is returning to Braintree this month.

The Anglia Singers, the choir of Anglia Ruskin University, in Chelmsford, will perform at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, in The Avenue, Braintree, on March 24.

Conductor and Emeritus Professor Chris Green will be leading the choir in his first public performance since early 2023 following a serious illness and an accident.

Last year, Chris was the recipient of the Lady Hilary Groves Award from the charity Making Music due to his significant contribution to music across the UK.

The choir will perform music from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, as a reminder that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the composer’s death.

There will also be works by Maurice Duruflé as well as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Coronation Anthem which was written for King Charles last year.

The event will begin at 4pm. Tickets cost £8 and can be bought from the Presbytery, from Stationery Solutions, in Fairfield Road, or at the door on the day.

Children aged 11 or under can attend for free.

The concert is expected to last just over an hour and refreshments will be available afterwards.

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the House of Grace charity project in Witham.
