A GIFTED university choir will dedicate a concert in Braintree to one of its members who has died.

The Anglia Singers - the choir of Anglia Ruskin University, in Chelmsford - will perform at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, in The Avenue, Braintree, on Sunday at 4pm.

The concert will be dedicated to long-standing choir member Martin Fee, a talented organist and choir director who died recently.

Originally, the one-hour performance was planned to celebrate and perform Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, as a reminder that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the composer’s death.

The requiem will now be dedicated to the loving memory of Martin.

One of his daughters will sing a solo during the concert.

The programme will be conducted by Emeritus Professor Chris Green, a long-time friend of Martin.

Both served as chairman of governors at Alec Hunter Academy, in Stubbs Lane.

Tickets for the concert cost £8 and can be bought from the presbytery, from Stationery Solutions, in Fairfield Road, or on the door on the day.

Children aged 11 or under can attend for free.

The concert is expected to last just over an hour and refreshments will be available afterwards.
