A HOUSEBUILDER has now officially sold all its homes in a village estate project which was launched two years ago.

David Wilson Homes has sold all of its 100 two, three, and four-bedroom properties at its housing development, Mortimer Place, in Hatfield Peverel.

The business started developing the site in June 2022.

The company says it also invested £100,000 in outdoor sports facilities, £60,000 in onsite play equipment, and £70,000 towards community building.

The business also spent £26,000 on improvements to public rights of way in the area.

According to the developer, the site has brought significant investment to Hatfield Peverel and created around 200 new job opportunities during the construction phase.

Spokesman Will Phair said: “We are incredibly proud of the success of Mortimer Place.

“This achievement underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional homes and enhancing local communities.”

The housebuilder contributed to the renovation of the Strutt Memorial Ground last year.

The community facility received £265,000 in funding from Hatfield Peverel Parish Council and Braintree Council, as part of a commitment from various housing developers in the region.

The play area has been upgraded with new inclusive play equipment, such as a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, sensory play panels and slides.

Old paving slabs were removed from the park to create a smooth surfaced play area.

David Wilson Homes also sponsored Santa’s grotto at Hatfield Peverel’s Christmas in the Park event and provided 60 hi-vis kit bags to pupils at St Andrew’s Junior School.

Witham MP Dame Priti Patel visited Mortimer Place in October last year.

She said: “Hatfield Peverel has experienced high levels of new housing growth and while I know that some developments have been controversial, it is important to meet developers building these new homes and engage with them.

“When new housing is built it needs to bring in new investment in infrastructure and public services.

“I was pleased to be able to discuss with David Wilson Homes how they are working to address local concerns and maintain a high-quality housing development.”
