HISTORY enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience an immersive military re-enactment of an important British campaign during the Second World War next month.
The Temple At War, an annual re-enactment event, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and hosting its next spectacle from May 11 to 12, at Cressing Temple Barns.
Next month, the Temple At War will feature the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
It was a military campaign where the RAF and the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy defended the UK against a large Nazi Germany aerial attack between July to October, 1940.
Temple at War is a renowned organisation known for its military and vintage events, and next month’s event will include two supermarine spitfires on May 11 and two Hawker Hurricanes on May 12.
More than 900 re-enactors will gather for the large-scale weekend event.
Alongside this, BBC Antiques Roadshow’s military expert, Mark Smith, will be meeting attendees and giving an insight into his passion for military history.
A spokesman for Temple at War said: “In addition to the historical re-enactments and military vehicles on display, Temple at War 2024 will also be offering atmospheric 1940s stage entertainment.
“Featuring the wonderfully talented three-girl vintage group, The Knightingales.
“Visitors can experience explosive daily battle displays, browse various Vintage and Militaria trade stands, and enjoy fantastic street food.”
On the Saturday, the event will open from 9am to 5pm, and on Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
The site has facilities for individuals that are disabled and there is free parking for approximately 1,000 vehicles.
Tickets will be made available from the main reception area on the day but tickets can be purchased online at templeatwar.co.uk.
Discounted ticket prices are currently available online.
A single day ticket for children aged between five to 16 costs £12, an adult ticket for anyone over 17 costs £20, and a family day ticket which includes two adults and two children costs £53.
Weekend tickets for children cost £17, adult tickets are £30, and its £72 for a group family ticket.
There will be free entry available to serving and veteran military personnel as long as ID is supplied.
