Darts ace Peter 'One Dart' Manley is another Olly Murs supporter.

And Betfred in Witham, where Manley spent three hours last week, have put a wager on the X Factor sensation and pledged if he takes this year’s X Factor title the £200 winnings will go to a Witham charity.

The former world number one darts player was in Witham last Friday and although he is the man everyone loves to hate when he is at the oche, he had plenty of time to talk about Witham's X Factor sensation.

“He is fantastic,” he said.

“It has been a bit of a farce (referring to twins John and Edward Grimes remaining in the competition) at times but Olly could go all the way.

“My wife Crissy said that from the start.”

Manley, who won the 2003 Las Vegas Desert Classic, said he has friends who live in Douglas Grove in Witham so he has an affinity with the town.

He said X Factor is a popular contest because “there are people like Leona Lewis who do brilliantly because they have the talent and there are opportunities for others to forge a career”.

Referring to the charity bet placed by branch manager Paul Sanders, Manley said: “I have never known anyone as generous as Fred (Done, who owns the Betfred chain). He does so much for charities up and down the country, so let’s hope this is a winner and Betfred can help another good cause.”

Manley was in Witham from 11am until 2pm challenging punters to a game of darts. They were given six arrows to beat his score which he accumulated with three arrows.

“I have been doing this with Betfred for five years and it’s great meeting people,” he said.
