A CREATIVE Arts festival is returning to a secondary school this summer.

The Midsummer Arts Festival takes place at Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form on June 16.

There will be musical performances from the choir and soloists and drama students will be showing mask work, an excerpt from Oliver as well as sixth form students performing monologues.

GCSE Textiles students will be hosting a catwalk showing their own creations and there will be displays by art students from GCSE upwards.

Susan Munro, Subject Leader for the Creative Arts at Notley High, said: “Students deal with different creative challenges each year and no two pieces of Art, Textiles or Product Design will be the same.

“The Midsummer Arts Festival allows students to demonstrate all the great work that they do throughout the year to the wider school and local community.

“For some of them it may be the first chance they have had to perform in front of a large audience.

“The event really is a celebration of creative talent.”

The school will also be launching the Art department’s new website and social media platforms at this year’s event.

The evening starts at 6pm in the Braintree Sixth Form building.

Entrance is free and summer themed refreshments are available along with a licensed bar.
