A COLCHESTER man is due to appear in court after being arrested as part of a police operation during the East Anglia football derby game.

Ipswich and Norwich fought out a 1-1 draw at Portman Road on Sunday.

During Suffolk Police's operation, Sam de la Rue, 23, of Rawlings Crescent, Colchester was arrested on suspicion of failing to comply with a section 35 order to leave a designated area following anti-social behaviour.

He has now been charged and ordered to appear at South East Suffolk Magistrates Court in Ipswich on September 6.

A second Essex man, 57-year-old Timothy Brown, of Vane Court, Witham, is also accused of the same crime.

Brown is scheduled to appear at the same court on September 20.

The pair were among seven men arrested inside and outside the ground on derby day.

Four of the others have been bailed, while the another man received a caution.

A 29-year-old from Felixstowe detained on suspicion of affray has been released on bail until September 26.

A 23-year-old man from Norwich held on suspicion of assault has been bailed until August 31.

A 34-year-old Ipswich man arrested for discharging a flare in the stands at Portman Road and a 45-year-old man from Norwich who was arrested for possession of a lit flare inside the ground have both been released on bail until September 12.

Another 23-year-old man from Norwich has been cautioned for possession of cocaine.
