Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is hoping his team can continue to use their home advantage when the Ryman League premier division’s front-runners visit the Village Glass Stadium tonight.

Maidstone United are set to come to face Witham with a large travelling support anticipated and having won five of their seven away games in the league so far.

But tonight’s hosts have lost just three league games on home turf in the last two seasons and Kimble knows his players will face their high-flying visitors full of confidence after their 4-2 win against Lewes in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Kimble said: “We get in the opposition’s faces when we’re at home and I think we are playing better there at the moment because the we use system suits us better.

“People may look at the pitch but I think it has improved a lot.

“There are a few bobbles out there still but it’s much better and I don’t think that has too much of an effect.

“It’s just 11 v 11 and that’s what I say to my players before they go out there.

“Whoever wants it the most will win just like we wanted it the most on Saturday in the FA Cup.

“It will be very hard tonight, though.

“I’ve heard that Maidstone will bring about four to five hundred supporters so there’ll be a good atmosphere and we have to make sure the occasion doesn’t overawe us.

“They won’t be looking forward to coming here and we just have to get in their faces and show them no respect.

“They may have a big budget but it’s not about budgets, it’s about players.”

Josh Mayhew is Kimble’s only injury concern with the striker being about a week away from returning from a knee injury.
