The Braintree Club Sweep on Hobbs Croft was fairly tight between three competitors until the last hour, when Chris Orrin landed two carp to settle the match in his favour.

Weighing in a total of 40-8-0, he took victory, while three late skimmers on the tip gave Pete Thompson the runners-up spot with 14-10-0.

The club’s Individual Trophy was fished at Seabrooks Reservoir and provided a peg-to-peg scrap between Mark Banks and Orrin, with both catching carp on the method feeder.

Banks landed eight carp to finish with a 92-9-0 total and win the trophy.

Orrin landed six and had to be content with 68-12-0 and a section win.

The other sections were won by Gary Spong with 28-8-0 and Jim Loosley with 25-4-0.

Thanks went to the Kelvedon Club for use of the venue.

The weights at Notley in the Friday Sweeps have dropped off in recent matches, but double figures are still needed to win.
