BRAINTREE and Bocking Angling Society fished the third round match of the Regan Cup on the Long Pond at Clare and once again the venue provided the goods.
None more so than for Pete Thompson, who drew peg six and fished meat and pellet to catch most of the species in the lake throughout the six hours to win the round with 63-4-0.
Small carp on the feeder provided the bulk of second-placed Gary Spong`s 32-10-0 from peg five.
That match was fished in ideal conditions, with sunny spells and light winds, in complete contrast to the club`s Friday Sweep at Notley with wind and rain.
The weather did not deter the anglers and the fishing proved to be better than expected, with a close finish for the top spot. Chris Orrin caught F1s at intervals throughout the match and added one carp to his final tally, which gave him a total of 18-8-0 for a narrow win.
Billy Walker came close with carp, F1s and silvers to finish with a level 18-0-0.
